Jon Moxley vs Shane Taylor
Shane hits punches and takes leg kicks. Mox chops him then lariats him. Shane drops him with a punch. Shane hits shots in the corner then they trade chops. Shane misses a splash then back body drops him. Mox is knocked off the apron then Shane hits punches against the rails. Shane is thrown into the steps.
Lee Moriarty hits Mox outside. Shan side slams Mox. Mox goes for a backdrop and Shane rolls on him during it. Shane misses a 2nd rope splash and they trade forearms. Mox cutters Shane then running lariats him in the corner. Mox hits corner punches then bites his head. Shane backdrops him then Mox backdrops him. Mox hits a big lariat then takes a lariat from Shane.
They trade headbutts and Shane kneelifts him. Shane double arm chokeslams him then Mox triangles. Shane lifts him from that position and drops him down. Shane hits mounted punches then Mox hits mounted punches and downward elbows. Mox running knees him and they trade forearms. Mox bulldog chokes him and wins it.
It was a good match as expected with the two hitting hard stiff shots. It was a total slugfest here and the two matched up well. I liked this one.
Mox said he is pissed and hungry beyond belief. He says he is not taking any crap from anyone in 2024. He said anyone who wants to step in the ring with him whether they are a teammate or not, can challenge him.
Adam Copeland vs Dante Martin
Adam side headlocks him. Dante leapfrogs and hits armdrags. Adam boots him in the corner, takes an enzugiri then Dante flipping sentons him. Adam bangs Dante's head off the post. Adam bangs Dante's head off the post and then headlocks him again. Dante enzugiri's him and kicks Adam in the head from the apron.
Adam tries to powerbomb him on the floor but Dante ends up jumping off the apron to hurricanrana him. Dante topes him then springboard crossbodies him. Adam hits an implant ddt. Dante flips over a spear then double springboard moonsaults him for 2.
Dante sunset bombs him from the ropes for 2. Dante springboards again and is caught with a spear. Adam then taps him out with a crossface.
I thought it was one of the better Dante matches with Adam slowing him down. I liked the springboard spear counter and I liked Dante flipping over Adam's spear. I wish they didn't do the 2nd rope sunset bomb here though.
Adam Copeland is interviewed by Tony Schiavone after. He said the Cope Open gets harder and harder every week. He said we should give all the credit to Dante. He said young guys are stepping up for The Cope Open but not vets. He said they are hungry and there's a lot to bite. He said he will keep working hard and harder like Christian said he would when he came to AEW. He said he will keep working until he gets the TNT title. He said he wants to bring it back or the people so they can see it defended every week. He said he would be TNT champ the next time he stepped foot in the building.
Adam puts on a fan's glasses after. Bryan Daniels and Claudio Castagnoli are interviewed. Lexi said Eddie got the better of both of them in the Continental Classic. Bryan said losing to Eddie was the low point of his career but the high point of Eddie's career. He said it was a good run but it doesn't make Eddie great. He said this is the best Eddie can get. CC says Ortiz will just be a casualty tonight.
Dante Martin is interviewed with Andretti and Darius. Private Party walk in and put a doo rag on Lexi's head. They brag about winning them and Andretti said Quen used the ropes to get the win. Quen said he lost his balance and it happened. Darius said they should run it back and Zay agrees.
Thunder Rosa vs Queen Aminata
Rosa chest slaps her then headlock takeovers her. Rosa headscissors her into a roll-up. Rosa shoulders her over then gets a pin attempt when she drops down. They trade pin attempts and Queen backbreakers her. Queen double knee drops her using the ropes then Rosa spinning headscissors her. Rosa dropkicks her through the ropes and we go to PiP break.
We return and they are trading forearms. Rosa hits forearms then Queen snapmares and back kicks her. Queen hip attacks her in the corner then misses a facewash kick. Rosa back elbows her then corner lariats her. Rosa dropkicks her through the ropes then hits kicks to the chest.
Queen hits an air raid crash for 2. Queen running face kicks her then Rosa dropkicks her. Rosa hits a package side slam and wins it.
It was just average. The forearm trading spot was the highlight of the match and it wasn't good early.
Ortiz and Edide Kingston are interviewed. They said it's been a while since they teamed up and said sometimes families fight. Ortiz says CC and Bryan might be a teammates but they aren't family. Eddie asks if we are good and wants to leave. Ortiz says he will translate and said Eddie does his best talking in the ring.
Bullet Club Gold come out to talk. They said they are back but feel like something is missing. Austin then grabs cardboard Juice Robinson from under the ring. They say they are the best trio in the world then The Acclaimed come out. Billy said both teams are trios champs but they can do so much more. Max says they should be a supergroup as they could do more together.
Bowens said the people want to see him with tag titles and want to see Billy with a singles title. He says he knows people want to see Jay as the world champ. The Acclaimed say they want an answer now about joining with them. Bullet Club scissor with them and form The Bang Bang Scissor Gang.
Buddy Matthews vs Daniel Garcia
FTR come out to back up DG. Buddy pushes him over and shoulders him over twice. Buddy shoulders him out again and DG gets mad. They shoulder battle and DG shoulders him out of the ring. House of Black and FTR get on the apron.
We go to PiP break and return. Buddy knees him on the apron then DG piledrivers him on the apron. They both go out then get back in. DG hits punches then corner stomps him. DG stands on his throat in the corner then bangs Buddy's leg off the post. DG figure fours him around the post. DG spears Buddy then rolls him into a sharpshooter. Buddy bangs DG's head off the mat to break it.
Buddy pumping knees him then jackhammers him for 2. Buddy knees him then Dg rolls him up to pin it.
I didn't think it was anything special and the match felt like it needed another 10 minutes onto it. I didn't like the finish here.
FTR, Garcia and House of Black fight after. Various wrestlers then come to break it up.
FTR are interviewed with Garcia. Dax says it has been going on too long and needs to end. He said next week should be a 6-man elimination cage match.
Roderick Strong vs Matt Sydal
Matt takes him down by the arm. Strong bow and arrows him and Matt gets out. Matt flying hurricanrana's him twice then spin kicks him. Matt plancha's him and we go to PiP break.
Matt gets caught with a backbreaker off a spinning heel kick. Matt headscissors him then hurricanrana's him. Matt hits jumping kicks then spinning heel kicks him. Matt top rope meteora's him. Matt hits an air raid crash for 2.
Strong jumping knees him then does a suplex into a backbreaker to win it.
It was an average match and it didn't feel like it got enough time.
Eddie Kingston and Ortiz vs Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli
Bryan stalls and Eddie waits for him. Bryan cravates him and does exercises. Bryan hits kicks to the leg and thye stall more. Eddie snapmares him, kicks him in the back and chops him. Bryan takes a double suplex then CC euros Ortiz. CC rips his shirt up. Ortiz double dropkicks his opponents and Bryan flying dropkicks him. Ortiz takes a snake eyes.
CC chinlocks Ortiz. Ortiz goes up into the corner and headscissors him down then CC giant swings him. Bryan hits kicks to Ortiz's chest then Ortiz hits forearms and chops on him. Ortiz hits a big lariat. Eddie and CC get in. They trade chops for forearms.
CC face kicks him then takes kicks to the leg. CC running face kicks him then Eddie his chops. Eddie exploders him then CC short arm lariats him. CC chokeslams him then Bryan top rope headbutts Eddie. Ortiz is sent into the rails then Eddie takes euros from both opponents.
Bryan rolls up Eddie then gets ddt'd. Bryan takes a dropkick into a german. Eddie misses an enzugiri then CC is suplexed and sent over the top. Ortiz tope con hilos Bryan through the ropes then Eddie topes CC. Bryan rolls Ortiz into yeslock then Bryan curbstomps Ortiz. Bryan busaiku knees Ortiz and wins it.
Bryan and CC picked up the win as expected here. It was an average main and there was nothing too great about it. I thought it went a little longer than it needed to. It was hard to get invested in the Eddie/Ortiz team since they were feuding and since Ortiz has been featured so little lately.
Bryan spits on Eddie after.
They also mention that AEW is bringing back the rankings system. It didn't work the first time and had consistent logic issues. I expect more issues now with so many people running around with various titles.
Overall thoughts: It was okay overall. I liked the Acclaimed/Bullet Club segment the most here. Mox/Taylor was good and Copeland carried Dante Martin to something respectable. The main and Strong/Sydal were average but not awful.
